If your child's teacher uses Authentext
A plain-language explanation for parents and students — what this tool is, what it never does, and what a flag actually means.
What Authentext is
Authentext helps teachers recognize each student's own writing voice. It reads the schoolwork a student has already submitted — the same essays a teacher was always going to read — and notices when a new piece doesn't sound like that student's past work.
Your child is never compared to other students, and never judged against an AI model's idea of "normal" writing. The only standard is their own writing history.
What Authentext never does
- Never watches your child type. No keystroke tracking, no screen recording, no webcam, no monitoring software on any device.
- Never reads anything except submitted schoolwork. Not email, not chats, not browsing, not private documents.
- Never advertises, profiles, or sells. No ads, no marketing profiles, no sale of student data — ever. That commitment is written to survive us: it binds any future owner of Authentext.
- Never trains AI on your child's writing. Student work is analyzed, not learned from. It is never used to build or improve any AI model.
- Never decides anything on its own. No grade, no accusation, no consequence ever comes from the software. Teachers decide; the tool only informs.
What a flag means (and doesn't)
Sometimes a piece of writing doesn't sound like the baseline established by a student's previous submitted work. When that happens, Authentext shows the teacher the evidence and suggests a conversation — not a conclusion.
A flag is a question: "This piece reads differently from your usual writing — walk me through how you wrote it." There are innocent answers to that question: a new kind of assignment, a writing growth spurt, extra help at home. Teachers know this, and the tool is built to expect it.
A flag is never proof, never a grade, and never a disciplinary finding. It is a reason to talk.
Your child's data
- Writing stays scoped to your child's own teacher and school. It is never shared across schools.
- Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Data can be exported or permanently deleted at the school's request — and families can ask their school to request it at any time.
- Authentext is built to support FERPA & COPPA compliance and schools’ obligations under both.
Questions are welcome
If you have any question this page doesn't answer, ask your child's teacher — or ask us directly at scott@authentext.app. We answer families, not just schools.
